About Asha Perfumery Works – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Kolkata
Walking into 333-A Rabindra Sarani, you get that strong scent of different perfumes right away. It is a mix of everything we have sitting on the shelves at Asha Perfumery Works. The shop is not very large, so we have to use every inch of wall space for the glass bottles and containers. Rabindra Sarani is always crowded, and the noise from the rickshaws and cars comes right through the door. We spend a good chunk of our day filling small vials and labeling things by hand. Sometimes the ink smudges or we run out of tape, and we just have to deal with it. It is dusty outside, so we are constantly wiping down the counters to keep the glass looking clear. There are notebooks full of scribbled notes about different scents and what people are asking for these days. We do not have any fancy computers or lights, just the old tube lights that flicker once in a while. Most of the time, we are just talking to people who stop in or checking on the stock we have in the back room. It is a lot of standing on your feet and moving bottles around carefully so nothing breaks. By the end of the day, our clothes smell like a hundred different things. It is a simple way to make a living, and we have been at this location for a while now.
