Ankit Fabrics

Ankit Fabrics is right on Mahatma Gandhi Road at number 178. You have to head up to the second floor and find Room No. 111. It’s a bit of a climb, but that’s where all the fabric is kept. The room is packed from floor to ceiling with rolls of different materials. Sometimes it’s hard to move around in there because we have so much stock. MG Road is always packed with people and traffic, so it’s a relief to get upstairs into the shop. We spend our days measuring out cloth and talking to people who come in looking for something specific. It’s dusty work because of all the lint from the fabrics. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just a room full of textiles and a couple of chairs for when we get a break. We’ve been in Room 111 for quite a while. Most of our customers know exactly where to find us. We don't do much advertising; word of mouth usually does the trick. It’s a simple business. We just like fabrics and we like being in the middle of the city. It gets hot in the summer, but the ceiling fan does its best. We just keep the rolls moving and try to stay organized. There is always a lot to do with so many orders.
