You can find Amax Mercantile Agency on the ground floor of 77 Netaji Subhas Road. This part of the city is always moving, with people carrying bundles and trucks trying to squeeze through the lanes. Being on the ground floor is lucky because we don’t have to deal with the old elevators that always seem to break down in these buildings. Our space is mostly functional, filled with filing cabinets and a couple of heavy wooden tables. It feels like an old-school office because that’s exactly what it is. We’ve got the high ceilings and the thick walls you find in these older constructions. It stays relatively cool inside even when it’s humid out on the street. We deal with a lot of different people every day. Some are regular faces we've known for a decade, others are just passing through. There’s always the sound of traffic outside, horns honking and people shouting. We don't mind it; it’s just the background noise of our workday. We keep a regular schedule, from morning until the evening rush starts. There isn't any fancy decor here, just the stuff we need to do our jobs. We’ve stayed in this spot because it’s central and easy for people to reach us. It’s a bit worn out around the edges, but it’s a solid place to work from. We just show up and get the job finished without making a big fuss about anything.
