Alom Extrusions Ltd.

Alom Extrusions Ltd operates out of Alom House at 7B Pretoria Street. It’s a decent building, nothing too over the top, but it serves us well. Most of the people working here have been around for a long time, so we all know each other’s habits by now. Pretoria Street can get a bit congested during the morning rush, but once you get inside the gates, it’s a different world of metal and manufacturing. We do a lot of extrusion work, which basically means there’s a lot of heavy lifting and keeping an eye on the presses. The smell of warm aluminum is something you just get used to after a week or two. We have some desks upstairs for the paperwork side of things, but most of the real action happens on the floor where the heat is. It isn’t a corporate palace with glass walls; it’s a place where work gets done and clothes get a bit dirty. We have a small area where we keep the finished products before they go out on the trucks. Sometimes the machines act up or the delivery schedules get messy, but we just figure it out as we go. It’s a practical setup. We don’t have a big reception area with flowers, just a simple desk and a sign-in sheet for visitors. People know where Alom House is if they need metal work done, and that’s enough for us to keep the lights on.
