Our office is over in the Ghola-Kadamtala area, near the Natagarh post office. Mukul Kr Bose is the one who handles the daily bits here in Kolkata. It’s a typical logistics office. We have maps on the wall and a lot of clipboards. Things move at their own pace here. Sometimes the rain slows everything down. Kolkata weather can be unpredictable like that. We spend a lot of time on the telephone. We are talking to warehouses and truck owners all day. We try to keep everything on schedule, but things happen. We don't have a big polished lobby. It’s just a room with some desks and a lot of files. We've been here for a good amount of time. We know the local roads and the shortcuts. The staff is small, just a few of us. We share snacks and talk about the news while we work. It’s a relaxed atmosphere, but we get the work done. We handle the logistics for various goods. We don't use big corporate words. We just tell people when their stuff will arrive. It’s a lot of paperwork and checking details. We make sure the addresses are right. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish up when a shipment is delayed. That’s just part of the job. We don't mind it much because the work is steady.
