It’s a wet kind of job, and we usually wear boots most of the day. The road outside is often busy, but back where we keep the seeds, it’s a bit quieter. We have to watch the temperature and the air in the water constantly. It’s not something you can just leave alone. There are always containers being moved and pipes being checked. We deal with local farmers who come by to get what they need for their ponds. The building is older and has seen a lot of use over the years. We keep the equipment simple because that’s what works best for us. Rishi Bankim Chandra Road has a lot of shops, but what we do is a bit different from the rest. It takes a lot of patience to manage the fish seeds and make sure they are healthy. We aren't sitting in an air-conditioned office all day. Most of the time, our hands are busy with the tanks or the nets. It’s a specific kind of life, tied to the seasons and the needs of the fish. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The mornings are usually the busiest time for the staff here.
