Acid Survivors Foundation India

Our office is located at No. 18 Pramathesh Barua Sarani, right on Ballygunge Circular Road. It’s an area with a lot of old trees and quite a bit of history. At Acid Survivors Foundation India, the work we do is a bit different from a regular shop or a factory. We spend a lot of time on the phone, talking to people and trying to organize help where it’s needed. The office itself is quite plain, with just the basic furniture and a few fans spinning overhead to keep the air moving. It can get pretty emotional here sometimes, given the nature of what we deal with, but we try to keep a practical head on our shoulders. We aren't here to make a big profit or sell a flashy product; we’re just trying to manage the foundation and keep things going. There are always files to be updated and meetings to be had with people who come by to help. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that, so we just rely on word of mouth and the work we do. The neighborhood is fairly quiet compared to the main roads, which helps when we need to focus on some of the more difficult tasks. It’s a small team, and we all end up doing a bit of everything, from answering the door to writing reports. We have a small kitchenette where we make our own tea, and the biscuits are usually stale.
