Aasha Textiles

Aasha Textiles is our small shop over in Picnic Garden. We have been here for a long time, surrounded by rolls of cloth and piles of different fabrics. It’s a bit messy inside because we always have new stuff coming in and old stock that we’re trying to move. The air usually smells a bit like cotton and dye. We don’t have a big fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of the time, we’re just unfolding fabric for someone to look at and then folding it back up again. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when the big bundles arrive. Picnic Garden is a crowded area, so it gets quite loud outside with all the rickshaws and people talking. We don't really mind it. We know most of the people who walk past our door. Some stop in just to say hello or ask about a specific color they’re looking for. We try to keep a good variety, but sometimes we run out of things and have to wait for the next delivery. We don't have any fancy marketing plans. We just open the shutters every morning and see what the day brings. It’s a simple life running a textile shop. We’ve got a small bench where customers can sit while they wait for us to measure out their orders. The tape measure we use is worn out at the ends, but it still works well enough. We just try to get things right and get people what they need. We usually close for a bit in the afternoon.
