Aankona

Aankona is located on the top floor of Ishani Apartment, right at 123 E Garfa Main Road. It’s a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens more often than we’d like. Being at the very top gives us a decent view of the Santoshpur area. We are very close to the Lokenath Mandir, so the sound of the evening prayers is a regular part of our day. The space is a bit cramped because we have so many supplies tucked into every corner. It’s mostly just a bunch of us working on various projects. Garfa Main Road is always noisy with autos and people shouting, but up here it’s a little quieter. We like the light we get from the windows on the top floor. It makes it easier to work on the finer details of what we make. Sometimes the neighbors come up to complain about the noise from our machines, so we try to keep it down after dark. We don't have a big sign downstairs, just a small nameplate. Most of our visitors are people who have known us for years. We usually keep a kettle going for tea throughout the afternoon. It’s a lived-in space with plenty of character and a few cracks in the walls. We’ve been here a long time and don't see ourselves moving anywhere else anytime soon. It’s just how we do things here.
