Our shop is located at 75, Netaji Subhas Road. It's an old building, like many others on this stretch, and A Alimohamed & Co has been here for a long time. The street is always packed with people and traffic, which is just how Netaji Subhas Road is. Inside, we have shelves filled with all sorts of items we've collected over the years. It’s a bit dusty in the corners, but we know where everything is kept. We mostly deal with hardware and supplies that people in the trade need. It's a family-run kind of setup. My uncle used to sit at the front desk, and now I'm usually there. We don't have a website or anything like that, because most of our customers just walk in or call us on the landline. The ceiling is high and the fans creak a bit during the summer months. We open early in the morning because that's when the laborers and contractors start their day. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late because of the traffic jams outside, but we just wait it out. It’s a simple life here. We drink a lot of tea while we talk to the regulars who have been coming to us for decades. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just provide the parts and tools that people ask for and try to keep the books straight. The floor is worn down from so many years of footsteps, but it holds up well.
