Our place is on the ground floor at 115 Canning Street. If you’ve ever been to this part of Kolkata, you know it’s absolute chaos most of the time. There are rickshaws, people carrying huge loads on their heads, and constant shouting from every corner. We are right in the middle of it. Our shop isn't very large, but we handle a lot of international trade stuff from here. Most of the space is taken up by boxes and paperwork. It’s not a place where you come to sit down and have a coffee. It’s for getting business done. We spend a lot of time on the phone or dealing with people who walk in off the street with questions about shipping. It gets dusty because of all the traffic outside, and we are constantly cleaning the counters. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. It’s just us, working through the orders and making sure things get shipped to where they need to go. Sometimes the power goes out or the street gets flooded, but we just keep going. It’s a very practical way of living. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we all just try to get through the day's work. It’s fast, it’s loud, and there is always something that needs to be finished. We just do what we do and don't worry about much else. We've been here long enough that the noise doesn't even bother us.
