If you ever find yourself near Kisan Chowk in Sangli, you might spot World Classes. It’s right in the middle of a very active part of town. There are always people moving about, shops opening and closing, and the general noise of the chowk right outside our windows. The location is the main thing about us. It makes it easy for everyone to get here from different parts of the city. Inside, the space is divided into a few sections. We have some old benches that have seen many years of use, and the walls have a few cracks here and there, but nothing serious. It’s a place where we just get down to business. We don’t have fancy soft drinks or a lounge area. There is a water pot in the corner with a steel glass for whoever is thirsty. Most of the time, I’m sitting on a plastic chair near the doorway, keeping an eye on who comes in. The sessions usually run back-to-back, so there isn't much time for lounging around. We use simple chalkboards because they are easier to manage than those fancy electronic ones. When the sun goes down, the lights from the chowk start shining through the window. It’s a very real, everyday kind of atmosphere. We aren't trying to impress anyone with the decor. We are just here to go through the chapters and make sure the students have what they need to get through their exams. It is just life at Kisan Chowk.
