Srikant Spices

Out here in Bhatshirgaon, life moves at its own pace. Srikant Spices is located right near Chikhali Road in the Shirala area of Sangli. It’s a rural spot, so we’re surrounded by fields and a lot of the people who buy from us are the same people who grow the raw materials. We don't have a shiny storefront with big glass windows. It's more of a functional space where we process what the local land gives us. The machines are old but they work well enough, and we spend a lot of time maintaining them. We get a lot of dust on our shoes and the smell of red chilies is always stuck in our hair. People around Sangli know us for being straightforward. We don't use any fillers or weird chemicals in our mixes. It’s just the spice and nothing else added. Sometimes the roads get muddy during the monsoon and deliveries are late, but everyone understands how it goes in a village. We sit out front when the work is done and watch the bikes go by on Chikhali Road. It’s a quiet existence for the most part, punctuated by the roar of the grinder. We don't have a website or a fancy logo. Most people just know us by name and stop by when they need their supply for the month. We just want to make sure the food in our district tastes the way it’s supposed to, using the stuff grown right in our own backyard.
