The workshop is located in Belavale, which is a bit of a drive out in Kolhapur. You can usually hear the sound of the machines from the road before you even see the gate. It is a noisy place, and there is always the smell of cutting oil and metal shavings in the air. We have been making machine tools here for a long time. It started out small and stayed pretty much that way. Most of the guys on the floor have been with us for years. They know the machines better than anyone. We spend our mornings looking at orders and the rest of the day making sure the parts are cut right. It's not the kind of place where you keep your clothes clean. There is grease on almost every surface. We get people coming in from all over Maharashtra looking for specific tools or repairs. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you want to see what we do, you have to walk through the shop floor and dodge the sparks. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside and have tea until it comes back on. That’s just how life is in Belavale. We focus on the metal and the measurements. As long as the machines are running, we are doing okay. We make sure every tool that leaves this shop is exactly what the customer asked for, even if it takes us a little longer to get it right.
