Sandstone Mineral

At Sandstone Mineral, we have our setup on 6th Lane, just off Nehru Road in the Malbhag area. Being in Kolhapur, we are used to the pace of this district. This business started out quite small, just a couple of us working with whatever we could get our hands on. Now we have a bit more space, but it’s still the same kind of daily grind. We deal with sandstone mostly, as the name suggests. It is heavy, gritty work and your clothes are always covered in fine dust by the end of the shift. We get a lot of trucks coming through the lane, which can be a bit tight sometimes, but we make it work. The guys here have been with us for years, so we all know who is supposed to be doing what without having to talk about it too much. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to answer phones all day. If the phone rings, one of us just wipes our hands and picks it up. We prefer it that way, keeping things simple and direct. The weather in Kolhapur can be tough when it’s hot, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done before noon. After that, it’s mostly about organizing the inventory and checking the quality of the blocks. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know. We just stay focused on the stone and the orders we have to fill each week.
