Saiganesh Textile Printing Forum

Saiganesh Textile Printing Forum operates out of Kabnur, which is in the Hatkangle Taluka of Kolhapur. Our workshop is located at G.No. 611 in Farande Mala, right along Chandur Road. It’s a practical space where we focus on the printing side of the textile business. The floor is often stained with different colors from the dyes we use. It’s not a clean or quiet place. You can hear the sounds of the printing process from the street. We work in a space shared with Eknath Kadolkar’s property. There are long tables where the fabric is laid out for the patterns to be applied. It’s manual work that requires a lot of standing and moving around. The weather in Kolhapur can be quite dry, which affects how the ink sets, so we are always keeping an eye on that. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most of the people who come here are looking for the technical side of printing rather than a finished retail product. We have stacks of screens and containers of pigments in every corner. It’s a bit messy, but that’s the nature of a printing forum. We just focus on getting the patterns right on the cloth and making sure the machines are working. We eat our lunch together in a small corner of the shop. It is a simple life focused on the craft of putting color on fabric every day.
