Purshottam Clinic

Purshottam Clinic is tucked away in Gavali Lane in the Mangalwar Peth area of Miraj. If you know Miraj, you know this part of town is quite old and the lanes can be very narrow. We are right there in the middle of it. The building is an older one and has that typical look of a local clinic in Sangli. We open up the doors early because many people from the surrounding farms and neighborhoods like to finish their checkups before it gets too hot in the afternoon. There is usually a bit of a wait because only one or two doctors are in at a time. The benches are made of wood and have been there for years. We don't have a big sign or bright lights. Most people know where we are just by word of mouth. Sometimes the neighbors from Gavali Lane pop their heads in just to say hello or ask a quick question. It is a very local atmosphere here. We keep a big ledger for all the patient names and it can get a bit messy on busy Mondays when everyone shows up at once. The fans hum all day long to keep the air moving in the small rooms. It’s not a quiet place, as you can always hear the sounds of the street and the cows outside sometimes. We just do the basic work of seeing patients and giving out prescriptions. It is a steady life.
