Mahalaxmi Hospital

If you head down Lane No 2 in Hupari, you’ll find us sitting at number 234. It’s a relatively quiet street compared to the main roads around here, but we still get plenty of visitors throughout the day. The hospital has been a part of the Hupari landscape for a long time. It’s a simple building, nothing too modern or flashy to look at from the outside. We have our regular patients from around the neighborhood who’ve been coming to see us for years. The lane can get a bit tight if two cars are trying to pass each other, so most people around here just walk over. Inside, it’s mostly white walls and that faint smell of antiseptic. We have rooms for patients to stay if they need to be watched, and a small area for regular checkups. Life here is mostly about the daily routine of rounds and talking to families about their health. We don’t have any fancy signs or huge advertisements. Most people hear about us through word of mouth from their neighbors or relatives. It’s a bit of a walk from the main market area, but it's not too far. We keep the doors open and try to manage the flow of people as best as we can. It’s a local hospital run by people who live nearby, so we know many of the faces that come in. Sometimes things are slow, and other times it’s a rush, but that’s just life.
