Maha Mahila Bachat Gat Nidhi Limited

Our place is in Borawade, which is a village in the Kagal taluka of Kolhapur. Our group was started with the idea of helping local women manage their money through a bachat gat or a savings group. We don't have a big, fancy office with air conditioning or glass walls. Usually, we just meet in a simple room or a common space in the village. It is a very grassroots way of doing things. We spend our time collecting small amounts of savings and keeping the records updated in our registers. Most of it is done by hand, and we take the time to make sure everyone understands the balance. We are just local people from Borawade and Kagal, and we know how hard everyone works around here. Whether it is work in the fields or looking after a home, every rupee saved is important. We don’t do any big promotions or marketing. People join us because they know us and they see how we work. It’s all about the trust between neighbors. Sometimes the meetings take a bit longer because we end up talking about village matters, but that is part of the charm. We are glad that we can be a reliable place for the women in our community to build up their savings. It’s a modest operation, but it means a lot to the families here. We just keep doing our work, day by day, for the village.
