Kala Prabhodhinis Institute Of Design

We are tucked away at the rear side of Mahavir Garden, inside the Balji Pendharkar Cultural Centre. It’s a bit of a quiet spot in Nagala Park, right near Naste Lounge. People often miss the turn if they aren't looking for the cultural centre. Opposite us is the Udyog Bhavan. Being an institute for design here in Kolhapur, we have a lot of students coming and going throughout the day. The 416003 area is quite nice, especially with the garden right there. It gives the place a bit of a creative feel without being too loud. We don't have a big shiny lobby or a front desk with a uniform. It's more about the classrooms and the work the kids are doing. Sometimes the garden gets a bit noisy during public events, but we’ve gotten used to it. The space in the back of the centre is where we set up all our design equipment and tables. We’ve been at this for a while now in Kolhapur. It’s not a corporate school; it’s just a place where people come to learn how to design things. We have a lot of sketches and models sitting on shelves everywhere. It’s a bit messy at times, but that’s just how a design place usually looks when people are actually working. We just keep things moving and help the students as they figure out their projects. It's a busy, creative life here.
