Laxmipuri is a busy part of Kolhapur, and that is where you will find us at Gatkad Foods Llp. Our place is at 1318/B/3 in C Ward. It’s an old area with lots of narrow streets and shops everywhere. We have been here for a bit now, just trying to make a go of it. The kitchen is usually the loudest part of the day, with pots clanking and people talking over each other. It’s not a quiet job. Kolhapur has a specific way of doing things, and we try to fit into that local rhythm. Some of us have been working in food for years, while others are just starting out and learning the ropes. We don't have a glossy brochure or a big sign, just our name on the door. Every morning starts early with getting the supplies in from the local market. Dealing with vendors is always an adventure. You never know if the prices will stay the same or if the quality will be what we expect. We just handle it as it comes. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons, especially during the summer months. We drink a lot of water and keep the fans going. It’s just honest work. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to provide food that people in the neighborhood can rely on. Most of our days are spent just keeping things moving and making sure we don't fall behind on the prep work.
