Anupam Kids Wear

Our place is out at Factory Number 196, right on Plot 9 in Durnwkur. It is a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren't living nearby, and the road has some pretty big potholes that never seem to get fixed no matter how much people complain. Inside the factory, it is always a bit noisy because of the machines running and the fans trying to keep the place cool. We have stacks of fabric sitting in the corners and rolls of elastic hanging from the racks. There’s usually a bit of dust in the air from all the cutting, so we keep the windows open even when it’s windy outside. Working with kids' clothes means there are lots of bright colors everywhere, which is a nice change from the grey walls of the industrial estate. Most of us have been working here a long time and we know the routine by heart. The tea lady comes by twice a day, and that’s when everyone actually stops talking for five minutes. We don't have a fancy showroom or a big lobby with a receptionist. You just walk in through the side door and someone will eventually see you among all the boxes. It’s a busy spot, especially when we are trying to get a big order out the door before the weekend starts. The light in the back room flickers sometimes, but we’ve learned to just ignore it and keep on with the stitching.
