Our place, Apple Spong And Power Ltd, is situated right in the heart of the Jawahar Factory Colony. You can find us at building F-27 in Yalgud, which falls under the Hathkanangale area in the Kolhapur district. It is a bit of a long drive out here from the main city, but this is where all the industrial activity happens. We have been operating from this specific site for quite a few years now. The factory environment is usually pretty loud and a bit dusty, which is what you would expect from a power and sponge iron setup. We are not sitting in those air-conditioned offices all day; most of us are out on the shop floor keeping an eye on the machinery. The work is physically hard and the hours can get quite long, especially when there is a big order we need to fill quickly. We have a lot of local workers from the nearby villages who come in early every morning. It feels a lot more like a small community than a big, cold corporation. We do not have a marketing department writing fancy slogans for us. We just focus on the actual work that needs doing. Sometimes the machines break down at the worst time and we spend all night fixing them. That is just the reality of running a plant like this. We take care of our equipment and try to keep everything moving forward without making too many complaints about the heat or the noise.
