Mk Opticals

Mk Opticals is situated in Kolasib, Mizoram, right near the big church. You can't really miss it if you are walking through the town. The air is usually quite cool up here, which is nice for working. Inside the shop, we have a few glass cases with different frames on display. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful not to bump into things. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass because fingerprints show up so easily. Being near the church means we hear the bells every Sunday and during weddings. It makes the place feel very peaceful. A lot of our customers are people we have known for years, neighbors who just need their glasses tightened or a new pair of lenses. We have a small machine in the back for some of the adjustments, but most of the heavy work gets sent out. Sometimes the fog rolls in so thick you can barely see the street from our front window. We usually have a kettle going for tea because it helps pass the time when things are slow. It isn't a fancy boutique like you see in the bigger cities. It is just a simple shop with a wooden counter and some chairs for people to sit while they wait. We try to keep things tidy, but papers always end up piling up on the desk. Life moves slow here, and we like it that way.
