Noor Bricks

You can find Noor Bricks at 459/5A on Malur Main Road in Irabanahalli. It’s a spot right on the side of the road, so it’s easy for the trucks to pull in and out. We have a lot of space for the kilns and the stacks of finished bricks. The ground is mostly red earth and hard-packed dirt. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we’ve been here for many years. Irabanahalli is a good area because of the access to the main road. We don't have a front desk or a waiting room. Usually, if someone wants to buy bricks, they just find one of us walking around the yard. It gets very hot near the kilns, so we drink a lot of water throughout the shift. The office is just a corner of the shed with a ledger and some pens. We don't do much advertising; word of mouth from the local builders is how we get most of our work. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially during the monsoon when the clay won't dry. But we just manage as best as we can. It’s a lot of physical labor, day in and day out. We just keep the piles organized and make sure the deliveries go out to the sites in Malur and beyond. The dust gets on everything, especially when the wind picks up across the road. We have a small radio that we keep playing in the background to make the hours go by. It’s a job we know well and we just keep at it.
