The Park Hotel

Down here in Bangarpet, our hotel is located at 3997 K.S.M. It is a place that has been around for a while, and it shows its age in a comfortable way. We don't have a big corporate office or a team of people in suits. It is usually just one or two of us at the front desk, waiting for guests to arrive or helping someone check out. The building sits in a busy part of town, so there is always the sound of horns and people talking outside. We keep our records in big books and on an old computer that takes a minute to start up. Our rooms are basic and clean, which is what most people are looking for when they stop in this part of Karnataka. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors because the dust from the road always finds its way inside. There is a small sitting area with some old magazines that nobody really reads. We don't have any big slogans or goals other than making sure the lights work and the water is hot. Running a hotel in a place like Bangarpet means you get to know the locals and the regulars who pass through every month. We drink a lot of tea from the stall across the street and talk about the weather or the local news. It’s a plain, practical life here at the hotel, and we wouldn't know how to run it any other way.
