Our place, R R Steel And Hardware, is situated right at Lakshmipura Cross in Srinivaspur. It’s easy to find because we are directly opposite the Essar petrol pump and close to Vsr School. It gets noisy around here with the traffic and the sound of metal being moved around. We deal with a lot of heavy stuff, so there’s always some clanging going on in the yard. Most mornings, we are out there moving steel rods or checking the hardware bins. It’s a lot of lifting. The dust from the road comes into the shop, so we are always dusting things off. We don’t have a big corporate setup. It’s just a local shop where we keep the essentials for building and repairs. The school nearby means there’s a lot of activity in the mornings and afternoons. We usually have our hands full when the trucks arrive with new supplies. Sometimes we have to move things around several times just to make space. It’s a practical job. We spend most of our time wearing work clothes and boots because of all the sharp edges and heavy weight. People from Srinivaspur know us as the spot near the petrol pump. We don’t do much fancy talk. If someone needs a specific bolt or a length of steel, we find it for them. It’s a basic routine that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday every week. Our yard is usually full of supplies.
