Lokenath Dry Fruits

Our little business, Lokenath Dry Fruits, is tucked away in Narendrapur. We are quite close to the Ramakrishna Mission, which most people use as a guide to find us. The post office is Chowhati and the police station is Sonarpur, so that gives you an idea of where we sit in the local geography. We focus on selling various types of nuts and dried fruits. It’s a niche business, but people around here seem to appreciate having a place that specializes in it. The shop isn't huge, but it smells nice because of all the almonds, raisins, and cashews we have stored in jars and bags. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions for people who just want a small snack or a kilo for a special occasion. Since we’re near the Mission, we get a lot of people passing through on their way to other things. We aren't trying to be a giant corporation; we’re just a family-run type of place. We keep things clean and simple. Sometimes we get new shipments in and the whole floor is covered in crates for a few hours. That’s just part of the job. We don’t do much advertising. People mostly find out about us by word of mouth or by seeing the shop while they’re out on a walk. It’s a quiet life here in Narendrapur, and we like being a part of it as we go about our day.
