B D Memorial Institute

Getting to work at P 2 on Garia Main Rd can be a bit of a chore with all the traffic. Pratapgarh is always moving, especially in the mornings when everyone is trying to get somewhere else. The B D Memorial Institute is tucked away right there in Narendrapur, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years. Our building has that typical local look, with some paint peeling in corners where the rain hits it hard during the monsoon season. Inside, it’s usually a mix of voices echoing down the corridors. We have a small area where staff sit and have lunch, usually sharing whatever was brought from home in their tiffins. The desks are a bit worn out, and the chairs sometimes creak when you sit down too fast. We don't really have a big fancy lobby or anything like that for visitors. People just walk in, find someone to talk to, and get what they need done. On rainy days, the main road gets a bit flooded, so we all end up with muddy shoes by the time we get inside the gate. It’s just the reality of being in this part of town. We keep a lot of our records in old metal cabinets that have been here since the start. There is a small shop nearby that sells snacks, and that’s where most of us end up after the day is over. It’s a plain place, but it works.
