Nalumakkal Earth Movers

We are located over in Chapra, in the Kodungallur area of Thrissur District. This is a local operation through and through. We have our machines parked nearby, and most of our work involves digging foundations or clearing land for people in the surrounding villages. The weather in Thrissur can be tough, either it’s pouring rain and the ground turns to mud, or it’s so hot the metal on the machines burns your hand. We spend a lot of time out on the sites, so the office is often empty except for when we’re doing the books or taking a break. It’s a simple setup. We started this because there was always a need for moving dirt and leveling ground around here. The machines need a lot of grease and the occasionally expensive part, which usually means a trip into the city. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything. It's just a few of us making sure the excavators are running and the jobs are finished on time. We usually talk to our customers over a cup of tea on their own land before we start digging. It’s a lot of hard work and you go home covered in dust most evenings, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing a plot of land ready for a new house. We just take it day by day and try to keep the equipment in good working order despite the mud and the heat.
