M/S. Gujarat Ambuja Cement Limited

I’ve been living and working here in Ambujanagar for years. Our office is at F/138 in the New North Colony. If you’ve ever been to Kodinar in the Junagadh district, you know this place is all about the cement. M/S. Gujarat Ambuja Cement Limited is a huge part of the life here. You can see the chimneys and the smoke from miles away. Everything has a thin layer of grey dust on it, no matter how much you clean. That’s just the way it is when you’re in the cement business. We spend our days tracking shipments and looking at the production numbers. It’s a lot of logistics, making sure the trucks are moving and the kilns are hot. The colony is like a little town on its own. We see the same faces every morning at the tea stall. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s steady. We don’t spend much time writing about ourselves because there’s always something else to do. A machine breaks down or a driver gets lost, and we have to fix it. It’s practical work. We don’t use big words to describe what we do. We just make the cement that builds the houses and roads. Some days the heat is unbearable, but we just keep going. It’s what we do here in this corner of Gujarat. We finish our shift and the cycle starts again.
