Benaka Motor Driving School is based up in Somwarpet, which is a nice part of Coorg. Our address code is 571236. We’ve been teaching folks how to drive for quite some time. The roads in Coorg are not always easy because of the hills and the bends, so it takes a bit of patience to learn. We have a few cars that we use every day. Most of the morning is spent picking up people and showing them how to use the clutch and the gears. It’s a simple business. We have a tiny office in Somwarpet where we keep all the records and the licenses. It’s usually just a couple of us working there. We see all kinds of people, from young kids starting out to older folks who finally decided they need to learn. Some are very nervous and others think they know everything already. We just sit in the passenger seat and try to keep everyone safe. The weather in Coorg can get very rainy, which makes driving even trickier on the slippery roads. We have to be careful during the monsoon months. People around here know us by name. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the name on the side of the cars. It’s a practical job and it keeps us busy from morning until late afternoon. Somwarpet is a small town, so we end up driving the same routes quite often.
