About Kumar Group Total Designers – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Kochi
We work out of the Kent Glass House on Koniampuzha Road. The building has a lot of glass, as the name suggests, which lets in a lot of light but also makes us very aware of the weather outside. Kumar Group Total Designers is basically a big room full of long tables, rolls of tracing paper, and computers with large screens. We spend most of our time arguing over where a wall should go or how to fix a plumbing layout in a drawing. The road outside can get pretty congested, so we often hear the honking of cars while we are trying to concentrate on a design. It is not a very tidy office; there are architectural models made of foam board sitting on almost every flat surface and samples of floor tiles leaning against the walls. We have a small kitchen where someone is always making coffee or tea to keep us going through the afternoon slump. Most of our staff have been together for a while, so we know each other's habits pretty well. We aren't interested in being a corporate giant; we just like the process of figuring out how a building should look and work. Sometimes we stay late into the evening when a big presentation is coming up, and the glass house looks like a glowing lantern on the dark road. It is just our daily routine of drawing, measuring, and starting over again until it looks right.
