Liftech Equipment

Our place is over at 33/258 in the Major Industrial Estate in Kalamassery. It’s a noisy part of town because of all the factories and workshops around us, but that’s where the work is. We handle equipment here, mostly things that lift or move stuff in warehouses. The workshop has been here for years, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint if I ever found the time. It gets quite humid in Kerala, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the metal parts to keep them from getting too much rust. It’s a practical setup with high ceilings and heavy benches. We usually start early before the heat really kicks in. People from the nearby industries often drop by to ask about parts or if we can look at a machine that’s acting up. It’s not a corporate office with air conditioning everywhere; it’s a working floor where things get fixed. We have a small desk tucked in the corner for the paperwork, though the papers usually end up with a few thumbprints on them. Lunch is usually a quick affair because there’s always a delivery coming in or a truck waiting to be loaded. It’s a steady rhythm of clanking metal and the sound of the forklifts outside. We’ve known the neighbors for years, so we often trade tools or help each other out when someone’s short-handed. It is just the way we operate.
