Green Allies Organics Pvt. Ltd. is based at the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology on Willingdon Island in Cochin. Being on Willingdon Island is quite different from being in the main part of the city. It is much quieter and you can always smell the salt air and the port nearby. The CIFT building is a large, serious-looking place with lots of corridors and different offices. We have our spot inside and it feels very tucked away from the world. To get here, you have to cross the bridge and drive past all the big shipping containers and the old docks. It is a long commute for some of us but the atmosphere is worth it. The building itself is old-fashioned with high ceilings and heavy doors. We spend our time in the office surrounded by papers and samples. There isn't much in the way of shops or cafes right next to us, so we usually bring our own lunch and eat together. You can hear the ships' horns in the distance every now and then. It’s a very practical place to work and it feels like we are part of the history of the port. The air is salty and the humidity can be a bit much, but we have our fans running all day. It’s a steady, quiet place to get things done without the usual noise of Cochin.
