Kochi is always humid. We are on the first floor on Ponoth Road in Kaloor. It's an old building but it works for us. We do trading, which means a lot of phone calls and ledger books. The stairs are a bit steep. Sometimes people miss the door because the sign is a bit small. We’ve been thinking about getting a bigger one but haven't gotten around to it yet. Most of the staff has been here for years. We know each other's families. When it rains, the water splashes near the entrance, so we have to keep a mop handy. It’s not fancy. There’s a tea shop downstairs where we go during breaks. The work is steady. We handle a lot of logistics for different goods. Some days are slow and we just chat, other days the phone won't stop ringing. Kaloor is a busy area, so there’s always noise from the street. We just get used to it. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us doing the paperwork and making sure the trucks go to the right places. People come by to drop off documents. We usually offer them water. It’s just how things are done here in Kochi. Gandhimathi Trading is just a name on a board, but to us, it’s where we spend our whole day. We aren't fancy people, we just do our jobs and go home to our families at night.
