You can find us right on the NH Bypass in Palarivattom. Dr. Tony Fernandez Eye Hospital is a busy place because of where it sits on the main road. We see people coming in all day for vision tests or because they have something stuck in their eye. The waiting room stays pretty full, especially in the mornings. We have different sections for testing sight and looking at more serious eye problems. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between rooms for the staff. We deal with cataracts, glasses prescriptions, and the occasional surgery that needs to be done. The bypass is always noisy with trucks and cars, but once you step inside, it's a bit quieter. We have a lot of equipment for checking eyes, and some of it is quite old but it still works perfectly fine. We keep the floors polished and the glass cases for the spectacles clean. Sometimes people get frustrated waiting their turn, but we try to move as fast as the doctors can work. It’s a lot of looking into bright lights and asking people which lens looks clearer. By the end of the shift, everyone's eyes are a bit tired. We just keep the files moving and make sure everyone gets their eye drops or new glasses before they head back out into the Palarivattom traffic. It's steady work, and there's always someone new needing help with their sight.
