We are located on the ground floor of Central Square Mall on Mg Road. It’s a small unit right where people walk past to get to the elevators. We have glass cases filled with all sorts of watches. It’s mostly very quiet in here, except for the faint ticking if you listen closely. We spend a lot of time with those little magnifying loops over one eye. It’s fiddly work, dealing with tiny screws and thin metal springs. People bring in their old watches to Swiss Time Zone when the battery dies or the strap snaps. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle these things. The mall is always loud with music and people talking, but inside our shop, it feels different. We have a lot of tools scattered on the workbench in the back. Sometimes a repair takes a few minutes, other times we have to keep the watch for a week because we’re waiting for a part. It’s not a fast-paced environment. We take our time with each piece. The lights in the display cases are bright, so it can get a bit warm near the glass. We’ve seen all kinds of watches come through here, from cheap plastic ones to old heavy ones that belonged to someone’s grandfather. We just sit here and do the work as it comes. It’s a steady way to spend the day.
