Baker Academy For Structural And Construction Engineers is run by Prof. Dr. K. A. Abubaker. It is not like those big universities you see on TV with huge campuses and sports stadiums. Instead, it is a place where people actually sit down and try to figure out how buildings stay up. The Professor has been doing this for a long time and he has a lot of books and papers scattered everywhere. We spend a lot of time looking at blueprints and talking about concrete and steel. It’s mostly just desks, chairs, and a whiteboard that is usually covered in drawings and math problems. Students come here because they want to learn the practical side of engineering, not just the stuff in textbooks. It can get pretty quiet in here when everyone is focused on a difficult drawing. We don’t have a big marketing team or anyone like that. It is just the Professor and a few of us making sure the classes happen on time. Sometimes the lectures go long because there is a lot to cover. It’s a simple setup. If you came by, you’d probably see a few guys leaning over a table arguing about a load-bearing wall or something similar. We just try to get the information across so the engineers know what they are doing when they get to a real job site. It’s just a small academy where hard work is expected from everyone who walks through the door.
