A.V. Sight Care

A.V. Sight Care is tucked away at 43/1464 St Bendict Road in the 3rd Cross area of Ernakulam. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren’t from around here, but the locals know where we are. We spend most of our time looking through lenses and helping people find frames that don't slide down their noses. The shop is small and has a lot of mirrors, which makes it feel bigger than it actually is. Sometimes the humidity in Ernakulam makes the glass fog up, so we’re always wiping things down with those little cloths. St Bendict Road is usually full of people walking to the market or the station. We hear the sounds of the 3rd Cross all day long. There’s a cat that hangs around the back door sometimes, and we usually leave a bit of food for it. Working here means seeing a lot of the same faces every year when they come back for a check. We have drawers full of tiny screws and spare parts that only we know how to organize. It’s not a high-tech corporate office; it’s just a place where we help people see a bit better. We close up around seven, and by then, the streetlights are on and the air feels a bit cooler. We just do the exams and fix the glasses, keeping things simple for everyone who walks through the door.
