Sharma Furniture

If you come to Dey Market, you’ll find us near the Durga Mandir. Sharma Furniture has been around this area for quite some time now. You can usually hear the sound of sawing or hammering if you get close enough to our shop. There is always a lot of sawdust on the floor, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. Being near the Durga Mandir is nice because we get to hear the prayers, and there are always people around. The market is quite old, and our shop isn't exactly modern either. We have piles of wood and half-finished chairs sitting around most of the time. It is a bit of a mess, but we know where everything is. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of the furniture we make just sits out where people can see it. We aren't really salespeople; we just make things and hope people like them. Sometimes the rain comes into the front of the shop if we don't pull the covers down fast enough. It’s just me and a couple of other guys working here. We don't do much advertising; people just know we are here by the mandir. It’s a slow process making things by hand, but we keep at it every day.
