Down in Moorang, which is deep in the Kinnaur district, we run Sungma Construction. It’s a beautiful part of the world but it makes for some very tough building conditions. The winters here are long and cold, so we have to get most of our work done in the warmer months when the snow melts. Our office is just a simple place in the village. We aren't some big city firm with a thousand employees. It’s just us, working with the stone and the timber that we can get here. We build things that are meant to last against the weather. It’s a small operation because there aren't that many people out this way. We know almost everyone in the Tehsil. When we take on a job, it's usually for a neighbor or someone from a nearby village. We don't use fancy technology; we use what works. Sometimes that means doing things the old-fashioned way. We don't have a website or a marketing department. We just have our name and our location in V.P.O Moorang. If you need us, you generally know where to find us. It’s a slow pace of life, but the work is steady. We take pride in seeing a building stand up to its first heavy snowfall. That’s how we know we did it right. It’s just how things are done in Kinnaur, and we are happy to be part of it.
