Jaiprakash Hydro Power Limited

Jaiprakash Hydro Power Limited is situated up here at the Baspa-II 300 M.W. H.E.P. Project. We are located in Sholtu, Tapri, which is in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, pin 172104. Working at a hydro project site is a lot different than working in a city office. The mountains are all around us, and the air is much thinner. It can be quite a tough environment, especially when the weather turns bad or during the winter months when the snow starts falling. We live and work right here. The project is a big one, and there is always something that needs looking after. We have engineers, technicians, and office staff all mixed together. It isn’t a place for suits and ties. Most of us are in work boots and heavy jackets. We focus on the water and the machinery. It’s a lot of technical work, but we talk about it in simple terms among ourselves. The days are long and the work is physical. We don’t have much time for fancy speeches or marketing. We just need to make sure the Baspa-II project stays on track. It’s a bit isolated out here in Tapri, so we’ve become a tight-knit group. We eat together and work together. It’s a unique life, but it’s what we do and it keeps the power flowing.
