You can find Prakash Trading Co. over on Rudrapur Road. We are inside the rice mill premises, right opposite Yadav Flour. There’s a Corporation Bank nearby, which helps people find us. It’s a busy stretch of road. We spend our days trading and checking on the rice stocks. The office is part of the mill itself, so it smells like grain all the time. It’s a smell you get used to after a week. We have a lot of farmers coming in with their tractors. It gets pretty loud and dusty, especially during harvest season. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. We just buy and sell, keeping an eye on the prices. My dad started this trading business, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. The walls could use a new coat of paint, and the files are piled up on the old wooden desks. We don't use computers for everything; some things are still written in ledger books. It’s a simple way of doing business that works for us. We know our regulars and we always have a chair for them to sit and talk. It’s just a normal trading life on Rudrapur Road. We get things done without making a big fuss about it. Sometimes we run out of chai, which is the only real emergency we ever have.
