Our group is based at house number 134 in Kalyanpur, which belongs to Hari Shankar Paul. We go by the name Kalyanpuragro Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited, though it’s a bit of a mouthful. We are right here in West Tripura, working the same land our fathers did. The office is just a regular house where we keep our logs and meet up after a day in the fields. We started this because we realized that working as a group is better than trying to do everything alone. It’s not a fancy setup. We have some plastic chairs and a lot of paperwork scattered around. Most of our days are spent checking on the crops and making sure the supplies are coming in on time. Kalyanpur is a good place for farming, but it takes a lot of sweat to make things grow well. We don't have any big marketing slogans. We just talk about the things that matter, like the quality of the soil or the cost of fertilizer. Sometimes we have long meetings that don't go anywhere, but that's just how it is when everyone has an opinion. We’re just trying to keep the farming tradition going while adapting a little bit to the modern world. It’s a lot of manual labor and honest talk. If you stop by, you’ll probably find us arguing about the best time to plant or harvest.
