Womder Land Pre Nursery School

The school is tucked away in Jagannath Colony over in Puri. It’s a pre-nursery, so we deal with the really small kids who are just starting out. The name on the sign says Womder Land, which is how we’ve always had it. It’s a quiet colony for the most part, away from the main tourist rush of the temple and the beach. The children come from the houses nearby. We have a small space where they can play and learn their ABCs. It’s not a massive institution, just a local school for local families. The mornings start early with parents walking their toddlers to the door. You can usually hear a bit of crying at first, but then it turns into singing and playing. The rooms are bright and decorated with whatever the kids have made that week. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who look after the little ones. It feels more like a big house than a formal school sometimes. We try to keep things simple. There’s no need for complicated rules when you’re dealing with three-year-olds. We just make sure they are fed, they learn a little, and they stay safe until their parents come back at noon. The sea breeze sometimes reaches us if the wind is right. It’s a decent place for a child to spend their first few years. We just take it one day at a time.
