We are based out in the village of Nayapali, which falls under the Kamarda police station. Subrat Kumar Patra is the one in charge here. It is a very quiet place, especially if you are used to the noise of the bigger towns. Being in Tahasil Bhogral means we are right in the middle of the countryside. We do infrastructure work, which around here mostly means projects that help out the local community. Our office is very simple. We do not have air conditioning or fancy chairs. It is just a basic room with the tools and papers we need. Most of our days are spent outdoors anyway. We spend a lot of time walking around sites and talking to the local workers to see how things are going. Sometimes the roads are really dusty and it takes a while to get from one place to another. It is a hands-on job. We do not spend much time behind a computer screen. Most people in the village know who we are. If someone has a question, they just walk up and ask us. There is no need for formal appointments here. We handle the paperwork in the evenings when things have cooled down a bit. It is honest work that keeps us close to our roots. The weather can be tough during the monsoon, but we just wait it out and get back to it. We like the quiet life here.
