Spices Make

Spices Make is based in Village Benupada, which is in the Delanga Tehsil of Puri district. We are very close to the Delang railway station, which is helpful for getting things moved around. Working with spices in a village setting like Benupada is a lot of hard work. We deal with raw materials that come in from the surrounding areas. There’s a lot of sorting, drying, and grinding involved. The air in our workspace is always thick with the smell of different spices, which can make you sneeze if you aren't used to it. We don't have any big automated factories; a lot of what we do is done by hand or with simple machines. It’s the way we’ve always done it here in Puri. The sound of the trains passing by the Delang station is something we hear all day long. It’s a constant reminder of the world outside our village. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the spices we produce are handled correctly. Most of our workers live right here in the village or just a short walk away. It’s a local effort, and we just focus on getting through the day’s work and making sure the bags are filled and stacked correctly in the storage shed. When the harvest season comes, it gets even busier, but we just keep at it until the sun goes down.
