Pratap Spices

Pratap Spices is located over on Sum Hospital Road in Kalinga Nagar. We’re really close to the hospital itself, so there are always people and cars passing by our door. We started this because we saw a need for real, decent spices in this part of town. It’s not a huge factory or anything impressive like that. It’s just a small unit where we do the grinding and the packing ourselves. We get our supplies from local farmers whenever possible. Some days the machines give us trouble, or the electricity goes out, and we just have to wait it out. That’s just how it is here. We don’t have a flashy storefront. If you weren't looking for us, you might even miss the entrance. We focus more on what’s inside the bags than the look of the shop. Our staff is just a handful of local folks who live nearby. We usually spend the afternoons weighing out portions and sealing them up for the next day. It’s a repetitive job, but we take it seriously. We don’t make any big claims about being the biggest or anything. We just want to provide something that tastes right in a home-cooked meal. Kalinga Nagar is growing fast, and we’re trying to keep up with the demand without losing our heads. It’s a decent life, working with our hands and seeing the same faces every week at our counter.
