Personal Clinic

Down here in Khurda, our clinic sits on a regular street where everyone seems to know each other’s business. It is a small operation, really just a couple of rooms and a small desk where we keep the register. The paint on the exterior is a bit faded from the sun, but it doesn't bother anyone. Most people who come in are from the local area, walking over from their houses. We don't have a big waiting room with air conditioning, just a few ceiling fans that click a little bit as they spin. It gets warm in the summer, but the fans help. I usually spend my morning getting the folders organized while waiting for the first person to arrive. There is no fancy music playing in the background, just the sound of the street and the occasional bird. Sometimes we run out of chairs if a whole family comes in at once, so someone has to stand by the door. We handle basic health things and don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s a simple life here in Khurda. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just find us by walking past or hearing about us from a neighbor. It’s a very quiet, straightforward way to run a clinic, and that seems to suit the people who live around here just fine. It might look plain, but we have everything we need to work.
